ZONESCAN ALPHA– PERMANENT NETWORK MONITORING

  • Self-learning system: The ZoneScan ALPHA software is designed to become more effective over time. You gain a vast database of historical leak and noise data and can add specific site observations such as noises (eg, from reducers, electrical sub-stations, pumps and PRVs), real sound files and pipe properties (age, material etc.) to create a powerful and self-learning asset management tool. Over time, you will gain total control over your distribution network. An event ticketing module helps you manage any problem resolution efficiently.

  • Full transparency of the system: A special “Maintenance Screen” provides a complete overview of the entire ZoneScan network. For each individual system component the operator can retrieve such information as the power level, temperature and noise level data, firmware version, and date of most recent communication. The system generates an automatic warning if there is a problem with any of the sensors or repeaters: low battery level, out-dated firm ware, stolen or displaced logger, defective sensor or antenna, or extreme temperatures.
  • Attractive and versatile user interface: All existing pipe network information, the location of each smart sensor and all leak indications are displayed on a Google Maps interface. Each sensor can be investigated individually or cross-correlated with any other sensor. Special screens enable the operator to perform advanced filtering and spectral analysis, and a special “Leak Score” provides advice and certainty on any possible leak situation. A pipe-wizard helps you adjust your network information for any inaccuracies in your imported GIS data.

Fully automatic and unmanned: The installation of the system is performed or supervised by GUTERMANN in order to ensure optimal coverage of the targeted pipe network and reliable communication. No further human field intervention is necessary for accurate leak detection, as leaks will be automatically identified and pinpointed. The leakage manager is notified within on or just a few days of their occurrence. Thanks to advanced spectrum analysis non-leak noises and other interferences are automatically excluded.

Combined with GUTERMANN’s unmatched expertise in communication and correlation technique, and the use of and high-end materials as well as in-house designed and manufactured key components (such as the radio module), this product is second to none in the world. Our smart sensors are designed to withstand temperatures of -20°C to +80°C and the battery life is tested to last for at least 5 years before it needs to be replaced.

The advantages of a fixed network: Apart from the obvious advantage in reduction of manpower required to perform leakage surveys and correlations, a fixed network installation also provides more accurate results thanks to the elimination of deployment mistakes and a greater amount of data available over time. This way, you will identify and pinpoint even smaller and more difficult leaks. Early identification and repair of leaks reduces the leak run-time and avoids larger and more dangerous pipe breakages. ZONESCAN NB-IOT – CORRELATING IOT LEAK LOGGER

ZONESCAN NB-IoT is the world’s first water leak detecting noise logger based on Narrowband Internet of Things (“NB-IoT”), the new LTE-based cellular communication standard optimised for machine-to-machine data communication in smart cities. It permanently monitors water distribution mains for new leaks and provides a Correlation Indicator for advanced filtering and leak identification in the Gutermann Cloud.

  • Easy installation using proprietary Android-based installation software: Installing (and subsequently moving) an NB-IoT logger has never been easier. The Android app ZONESCAN INSTALL will guide you through the process of logger activation and registration to the cellular network, including its exact geo-location. An antenna jig with USB port allows you to connect the logger to your Android device for direct access. Once deployed, a regular extended antenna is connected to the logger and attached magnetically underneath the lid.  Loggers are deployed in intervals of typically between 50 and 300 meters, depending on the deployment area and the pipe properties.
  • Industry-leading cloud software for leak data analysis and result display: ZONESCAN NB-IoT logger data will be sent to and stored in the same, industry-leading cloud platform as other GUTERMANN cloud-enabled products (ZONESCAN ALPHA, HISCAN, EASYSCAN and MULTISCAN) for remote access.  GUTERMANN CLOUD is a Google MapsTM and Street ViewTM based interface which lets you see and manage all of your leak detection infrastructure, import your GIS data, perform advanced leak analysis and review leak alarms. You can also change settings, such as recording times, alarm thresholds and more.
  • NB-IoT data transmission from below the chamber lid directly to the cloud server: ZONESCAN NB-IoT is the world’s first water leak detecting noise logger based on Narrowband Internet of Things (“NB-IoT”), the new LTE-based cellular communication standard optimised for machine-to-machine data communication in smart cities.  NB-IoT significantly outperforms conventional 3G communication standard for leak detection applications:
    – Significantly lower power consumption (5-10x less) extending battery life significantly; batteries can be replaced in the field, no need for factory returns
    – Significantly improved coverage underground (deep coverage)
    – Much lower communication costs
  • Use of cloud-computed Correlation Indicator for leak identification: The recorded sound signal of every sensor is synchronised to enable the Gutermann Cloud software to automatically correlate the data between all neighbouring sensors and provide leak indications even where the individual loggers don’t recognise the existence of a nearby leak (we call this feature “Correlation Indicator”). The Correlation Indicator will give you information about the area in which the leak has been identified. For accurate pinpointing in fixed networks the RF based fixed network monitoring technology ZONESCAN ALPHA will continue to be the most accurate technology in the market.

ZONESCAN AMI - AMI-Integrated Leak Alarm System

GUTERMANN’s ZONESCAN AMI correlating loggers can be wire-connected to AMI systems which have the capacity to automate the collection, retrieval, and analysis of acoustic data recorded by the ZONESCAN sensors. Thanks to a two-way communication within the AMI network, the sound data is recorded in a time-synchronised manner and transmitted back to the GUTERMANN servers for further analysis and display on a Google Maps interface (GUTERMANN CLOUD).

The addition of ZONESCAN loggers to an AMI network gives AMI customers a powerful tool to quantify and reduce system water losses. It allows utilities to compare total water consumption to water production to get a gross estimate of system water loss. ZONESCAN AMI RTUs can then be deployed in targeted areas of the pipeline network to identify the presence and specific location of leaks. Repair crews can be dispatched with confidence to leak locations that have been identified.

HISCAN - Permanent Trunk Main Monitoring

The permanent monitoring of trunk mains and transmission mains is becoming an increasing focus of utilities. But the technological challenge is bigger than for distribution mains. HISCAN is a permanently installed leak monitoring system for trunk mains that is both very sensitive (using correlating hydrophone sensors) and at the same time able to work independently for at least 5 years, using solar power for its data gateways. The data is sent to the GUTERMANN CLOUD allowing utilities to pinpoint leaks and investigate them remotely.

  • Acoustic leak detection system based on hydrophone sensors: The combination of hydrophone technology and the know-how of the GUTERMANN ZONESCAN product range produces a performance for acoustic leak detection never attained before for unmanned, permanent systems. Large amounts of data collected from sensors spaced several hundred meters apart and the ability to correlate between measurement points allow for optimised leak noise analysis and accurate pinpointing of identified leaks. HISCAN has its main focus of application on trunk mains with large diameters, but also plastic pipe networks (PE, PVC) can be monitored effectively.
  • Advanced signal processing for large diameter & plastic pipes: The recorded sound signal of every sensor is transmitted to a central server through GUTERMANN’s proprietary transmission technology based on latest IOT technologies. Data on the server is then automatically analysed using a new generation of special algorithms. A vast variety of options are available to the user to further improve the results provided by the system: adaptive filtering, time-line analysis and optimised filters for different materials and diameters of pipes. All of GUTERMANN’s know-how of over 50 years in acoustic leak detection will allow you to find the most difficult leaks in your network.
  • Store and display data on GUTERMANN CLOUD for remote access and advanced reporting: All data recorded by the sensors is stored on the GUTERMANN CLOUD for future access. Joint platform for other GUTERMANN products you might use, e.g., ZONESCAN ALPHA; EASYSCAN or MULTISCAN.
